 2016 Preview 


       Providence Christian completed the 2015 season with a 8-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Providence Christian reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Washington County by a score of 48-21.

       No team at Providence Christian ever won more games in a season than the eight victories last year. It marked the first time since the 2012 season that the Eagles qualified for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Providence Christian has gone a combined 38-24. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 10 seasons, Providence Christian has managed to compile a record of 59-45. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 3A and 114th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Kenny Keith who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 23-16 over the past four seasons at Providence Christian. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Keith.

       Coach Keith's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 23-16 (59.0%).

       The Providence Christian Eagles will play in Class 3A region two during the 2016 season. The Eagles move up in classification to Class 3A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. Providence Christian will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       Providence Christian enters the 2016 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at .

       It will be an uphill battle for the Eagles if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. Unfortunately, Providence Christian finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Alabama Christian on Friday, August 19. Last year the Alabama Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 5A region two. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Montgomery Academy by a score of 42-17.

       Providence Christian and Alabama Christian have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-1-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in with

       Providence Christian returns 2A All-State Senior linebacker Ricky Hall. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
